Energy Astrology: March, 2007

Lassoing the Stars for a Better Life

By Cyndi Dale

It’s Time to be Eclipsed

Every six months, the world turns upside-down and inside out. The heavens eclipse, as the Moon and Sun will in March.

In Energy Astrology, we examine the affects of the heavens on the earth. Every time something significant shifts upstairs, those of us living downstairs, respond. We’re looking for the big shake-ups, the grand changes, the stuff that leaves us wondering just what happened. And in March, we’re looking at some big surprises. In fact, March is the month for Surprise, not just full of surprises. Let’s get ready!

March: A Month for Surprise

A few weeks ago, my son Gabe gave me a shy smile, and asked a question.

“Mom, would it be okay if I told you something important?”

“Sure, Gabe,” I responded, wondering if I was going to be hit up for the newest gadget that “every kid had to have,” or told what new parenting style I needed to adopt (especially in relation to the psychological advantage provided children who are bought volumes of toys.) “Well,” he faltered. “It’s about this girl.”

I groaned. Gabe was only eight. Having already raised one son to the advanced old age of nineteen, I knew what it meant to pass through the various “girl stages,” from first crushes to first heartbreaks. I had thought we were still in the “girls have germs” era, but perhaps I was wrong. Unfortunately, I was sure I was wrong.

“You see, Mom,” he said. “It’s about this girl. I really like her.”

“Does she like you?” I asked.

“Naw,” he said.

“How do you know?” I asked.

“Well, she’s never talked to me, except one time she asked if she could use my glue!”

During the course of our conversation, Gabe revealed a rather complicated scenario. Apparently, this young woman – Katie, we’ll call her, liked Marty (a fact based upon an observed interaction, in which Katie smiled at Marty when he was talking with her), but Marty liked Sally, who didn’t really like anyone, but it was okay because no one really liked her. “Does anyone like you?” I asked Gabe, to which he replied, “No.”

Now, I had my own reservoir of secret information. Should I reveal it or not? I went for it.

“Actually Gabe, Jamie likes you.”

“How do you know?” he asked.

“Your teacher told me.” And I proceeded to relay comments made by his teacher and another adult about Jamie’s opinion of Gabe, based on such noteworthy events such as Jamie staring at Gabe, pulling his chair out from under him, and making spit balls for his personal use. Most definitely, Jamie liked Gabe.

But Gabe hadn’t noticed.

In March, two eclipses, one lunar and another solar, concur – or rather, gang up on us, to erase denial, force truth, and in general, play havoc with our perceptions. As Gabe did, we might find ourselves pleasantly surprised by the unexpected, unforeseen, and odd. How many times do we find ourselves looking at a situation one way, only to find that it’s actually different? Isn’t life just “full of surprises?” Well, March offers plenty of opportunity for us to unfold into the energy of “Surprise.”

The Moon Unveiled, the Sun Shines

Cosmological events might be physical in origination, but they stimulate and sometimes even create spiritual energies. The conclusive energy of March is “Surprise,” but how do we get there?

First, the moon unveils hidden secrets through a lunar eclipse in Virgo, which encompasses the energies of truth and perfectionism. An array of other spatial events that occur near this March 3rd date assures volcanic reactions. Whatever is hidden, will spew forth. Volcanic is indeed a good word to describe the shock March’s surprises.

As soon as you think it’s all over; just when you’ve made peace with a new process, plan, or purpose, the Sun decides to shine – exactly where you haven’t wanted to look. On March 18th, the Sun eclipses in Pisces, which represents intuition and emotion. Okay, that’s not so bad, you reflect. Maybe I’ll deal with a few long-stored emotions, buy extra Kleenex, and meditate a bit more. Good idea – except that Pisces is squared against Pluto, which stirs our deepest passions, resentments, and desires.

No hiding this month.

Think you can’t be surprised by what lurks in the deep of your soul? Think you really understand yourself; accept yourself; know yourself? Think again. While the outer self might believe it can contain the inner self, if the energy of Surprise has its way, you might as well wave the white flag now.

Surprise, this month you get to see who you – and others – really are.

Surprise, this month you get to figure out who really likes you – and who doesn’t.

Surprise, this month you get to uncover who or what you really like – and not.

Surprise, this month you get to decide if you really want to BE YOURSELF. Or not.

Making March Surprises Work for You

How do you deal with upheaval? Cope with sudden insights, the types that war with long-trusted ideals? You think like a child. Remember being eight-years-old? It’s almost your birthday, and you’re thrilled. Who knows what’s wrapped in those packages? Who knows who might come to your birthday party, or what it will be like to wake up and be nine-years-old? You just think you like Katie (or Jamie or ice cream sundaes or your job.) Who knows what might change your mind?

The most important survival technique, no wait, “thrival” tip, for March, is to change the rules around – just like kids do. How do you do this? Here are a few ideas.

• Pick your “surprise” ending right now. Remember when you were a kid, and you cheated on every game? Winning was a foregone conclusion. Why not dust off the technique and try it again? You’ll enjoy the month a lot more if you decide to accept and like yourself right now. That’s right. Right now. Just as you are, before you’ve lost the last five (okay ten) pounds. Before you’re written an international bestseller. Before you’ve worked through all your childhood/past life/soul/ancestral/ex-husband or wife issues. Before you’re changed jobs, asked for a raise, replaced all the light bulbs in your house, or caught up on your E-mails. The process might be easier if you write the ending before it starts.

• Get a fresh start. You know how you get to start at “Go” when you play Monopoly, and even better, collect 200 dollars ever time you get there again? Why not take a clue from the joy of starting fresh (and rich) by clearing out your old tapes, beliefs, and worries and starting the month fresh.
It doesn’t have to be as hard as you think.
Your heart is at rest half the time. Your lungs are on hold half the time. At any given moment – in the space between heartbeats, breaths, actions, and thoughts of hatred, jealousy, greed, unhappiness, depression, anxiety, or fear – you can simply decide to do it differently. You can make a new choice, a different choice. Where you haven’t liked yourself, you can. Where you’ve disliked someone else, you can change your mind. Start now, at the beginning of the month, with making a new decision, one that reflects your real self, not the “old stuff.”

• Like surprises. No doubt about it, the only constant in life is constant change. Instead of fearing change, maybe it would be easier to simply like it? Surprises can certainly shock us – but who says that the outcome is bad? Gabe might have been disappointed to find out that the girl he liked didn’t like him, but he was pleasantly surprised to find out that another girl did! (And guess whose been playing at recess together?)
