Lassoing the Stars for a Better Life
By Cyndi Dale
The Gift of The Stars:
This Month: Centerdness
Imagine that everything you own is taken from you—your home, clothing, job, and security. All you have is your beliefs. And then pretend that these beliefs—your values, ideas, and principles, become the basis of persecution, the reason that you are not only mistreated, but separated from the rest of society and punished.
Isolated and alone, you exist within a cell. No one talks to you. No one thinks about you. No one knows that you are even alive. In the middle of nothing, what…who…are you? If there were nothing external to live for, for what would you live?
Only humans, of all species, treat each other this way. Every “great” government, civilization, or religion has mistreated those that stand in opposition to its leaders. Cultures have harassed or destroyed other cultures, excusing their evil behavior on the comparative “correctness” of their beliefs. The more committed some people or groups to their overruling convictions, the easier it seems for them to justify hatred and cruelty.
The essential question isn’t if your beliefs are popular or fringe; accurate or inaccurate; or even right or wrong. It’s if they serve all of humankind—and the natural world—or not. At the end of October, an important celestial event forces us into the most central of all questions:
What belief is central to you?
What belief would sustain you through long, dark nights in a cell—and open you to the sun that shows the way out? It’s not about what belief you would die for; rather, it’s about which belief is worth living with.
The Pluto Challenge
On October 26th, Pluto conjuncted the Galactic Center, thus setting the stage for November’s spiritual challenges—and opportunities. This is the third of three conjunctions that began on December 29, 2006, events that happen only once every 248 years. This revolution presents a choice to all humankind: Are we going to adopt beliefs that create a greater consciousness or continue with ideals that form chaos? The macro decision will be entirely based on the personal choice made by a few individuals.
Pluto is the planet of transformation. Expect challenges, internal or external, that will dig to your core. What doesn’t count—shouldn’t count. What isn’t operation or serving you will be presented and hopefully, dismissed, as easily as tossing dirt from a hole. This month will enable you to truly sink into yourself. What’s at your center? Is it something that you’re proud of, or do you need to make a change? The rest of your life will unfold depending upon what star is burning bright in your inner self—on what you’re considering to be your “galactic center.”
What’s Your Galactic Center?
Every planetary and stellar body has a “galactic center,” or something that they rotate around. The moon orbits the earth; the earth, the sun; the sun, a point within this galaxy; our galaxy, a “Super Galactic Center” comprised of thirty-odd galaxies. Astrological philosophers suggest that all galaxies spin around a mysterious point called the Great Attractor—perhaps best known as “The Creator.”
On a more mundane basis, our everyday lives circle around a personal “galactic center,” a fundamental notion that controls our thinking, feelings, and behavior. There are millions of potential centers, and most of them are pretty awful, such as fear, revenge, security, jealousy, greed, survival, avoidance…you name it. Of course, most of us don’t know that our core is filled with rotten fruit. We’re often so far away from our center, we can’t see into it.
Think about the decisions we make if centered on negative elements. What if our truth is to avoid rejection? We’ll do anything, including self ourselves short, to be liked and accepted. What if our primary ideal is to be accepted for our appearance? I don’t know about you, but wrinkles are unavoidable—and frankly, there’s always someone better looking than us. Even the pictures of Cindy Crawford are prettier than the genuine Cindy Crawford! If we’re not essentially centered on love—a higher form of love than usually seen on this planet—we’re not centered at all.
Centuries ago, Johannes Kepler, following the footsteps of greats including Copernicus and Pythagoras, postulated that the natural world exists in a “harmony of the spheres.” If the planets and stars—and people and plants—operate in concert with this harmony, we would be attuned in our greater and daily lives. There would be peace. Does this mean that there won’t be peace on this planet—or peace in our personal lives—unless we harmonize each and everything in the Universe? Does the world have to become perfec to be, well, perfect? We have only to look at history to answer this question with a “no.”
Gandhi attuned a people by achieving a state of internal grace. Amma, a Hindu master, is known as a vehicle of love. She has hugged over twenty million people—single-heartedly changing millions and maybe billions of lives. Renee Descartes altered the face of science with his empirical theorems. And sometimes back in the distant past, a faceless human—most likely a woman, as women were the first historians, found shale and drew the first drawing upon a cave wall, creating art.
It only takes one, two, or a handful of centered people to shift the world’s axis. Biblically, Revelation speaks of 144,000 thousand worthy that remain at the end of the world. The Jewish religion states that the existence of the world rests on the existence of thirty-six worthy souls. If these were to die, the world would cease to be. When one generation of worthy souls dies, another takes its place. Within this group dwells a person that if necessary, becomes the Messiah for that generation. The point isn’t that there are a certain number of righteous people and no more. It’s that we only need a few good people to create a good world.
Think about an orchestra. Here are maybe 50, 75, or 100 musicians. When they sit to play, they are all out-of-tune. The lead violinist stands up. Her violin is discordant as well—all four strings. What does the first chair do? She tunes the “A” string. From there, she can adjust her tones—and the rest of the orchestra can attune from there.
Are you prepared to help tune the world?
Keys for Attunement
This month, don’t resist. Don’t fight the events, input, or situations that enable you to clearly see into your central self. Don’t judge. If there are ominous or negative factors running your perceptions and therefore, your life, it’s because you unconsciously that they would serve you.
Now make a decision. Are your central beliefs sufficient or exciting, or do you want to make a substitute? It’s enough to decide. And then—do. Make a point of reminding yourself about your true self; your true beliefs, goals, and desires. Watch how the world reacts to THIS!
