Energy Astrology: October Column

Lassoing the Stars for a Better Life

By Cyndi Dale

October Knocks. And Who Will Open?

How about your Inner Hero?

Two eclipses promise energy opulence for those ready to take advantage of October’s astronomical occurrences. Polish your brass buttons! Call the Calvary! It’s time to summon your inner “spiritual warrior.” In order to reap the rewards of life’s hard work, we have to see and act like the heroes that we are. If you’re ready to be courageous and vulnerable you can leap forward into the future of your dreams.

If you’re ready to follow your spirit through action, you really will be a spiritual warrior -- a hero in your own life. Heroes take great risk, but they are also richly rewarded.

What makes October so encouraging of change and reward? October hosts two heaven-sent events, eclipses set for October 3rd and 17th. Eclipses always bring change, along with the positive and negative affects of change. They force us to rearrange both our thinking and our behavior. Doing things different both inside and outside of ourselves are courageous acts.

Fortunately, the spiritual energy of Courage is more available this October than it has been in years. How can this be? How can “Courage” be considered a tangible, concrete energy? You see, physical matter is tied to spiritual matter. When something reorders in the physical universe, the energy of those modifications form a sort of portal or doorway for greater spiritual energies. During October, watch for the supernatural spirit of Courage as it presents at your doorstep. Guaranteed, the Universe will create at least one experience necessitating its use.

Courage isn’t always the easiest mistress to summon under duress. Often, we must go for valor in the face of our fears. If you’re going to be a hero in your own life, then know you have to be willing to be real about your fears. To live in truth you have to recognize the way that you lie to yourself. Know yourself as an honorable and brave person and you will be.

The Spiritual Backdrop

Typically, astrology limits itself to the play of planets or motion of the moon. In Energy Astrology, we probe underneath the movement of matter seeking deeper mysteries. Every major alteration in the sky produces new spiritual energies available on earth.

There are thousands of spiritual energies. Examples include Truth, Vision, Justice, Hope, Faith, and Love. Most people use spiritual analogies to describe these notions, but the most exciting way to describe spiritual energies is by looking at them through the eyes of quantum physics. Add a little science to the mix, and you’ll see how practical you can make spirituality! Here are three types of spiritual energies from the point-of-view of physics.

  • Spiritual ideas are independent particles that hold individual thoughts. Just one new thought can alter your own thinking and therefore behavior. The spiritual idea of Honesty, for instance, can compel you to tell the truth.
  • Spiritual ideals are free-roaming waves of energy. In physics, waves can form from particles or can be reduced from waveform into particles. Regardless, ideals shape reality. The wave of Patriotism, as an example, can encourage people to support their country. (The wave of Racism, on the other hand, can create injustice.)
  • Spiritual truths are made of energies called standing wave columns. A spiritual truth is actually composed of two seemingly opposite ideas or forces. To achieve a state of truth, you have to stop thinking that opposites are really oppositional. How do you get out of dualistic perceptions? Take the supposed contrary concepts of Good and Bad. What’s good in one situation can sometimes be bad in another. Killing someone is usually bad but how about if you kill someone who is going to kill your children? What’s bigger than fixed ideas like Good and Bad? How about greater spiritual truths, like Justice, Honor, or Love? Spiritual truths must lead to conscious thinking and decision-making, or you’re just following internalized programs or someone else’s orders, not upholding greater ideals.

In October, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to work with all facets of Courage. Life will ask you to define your idea of Courage; live up to your ideals of Courage; and discern ways to be courageous in the face of the seeming opposite of Courage Cowardice. It’s not easy, acting courageously when you would rather be a coward, is it?

Don’t get too freaked, though. Chances are, you’ve been courageous you entire life.

Courage is defined as the ability to face danger, difficult, or uncertainty without

being overcome by fear or deflected from a course of action. Just getting up in the morning is an act of boldness. Ever get up and know that work is going to be awful? If you still dressed and went to work, you acted heroically.

Sometimes the simplest, most human and wonderful of events are actually the ones requiring the greatest amount of courage. Do you have children? Be honest. Did anyone warn you of the real consequences of undertaking parenting? Before I can send this column to my Web master, I’ll have to unerringly pick my way through an obstacle course of furtively laid bombs a medley of trip-you-up swords, bubble wands, Buzz Lightyears, and baseballs. To collect said-child for school, I’ll next have to brave the backyard of demon dogs on a rescue mission for missing shoes and socks, not to mention pry open the kool-aid stuck refrigerator to see if the lunch packed last night has already been eaten by the youngest child’s football-playing, midnight snacking older brother, who daily threatens that unless he gets his allotment of non-green, non-organic, non-Omega 3 foods, he’ll simply waste away.

As many a parent has found out, what we don’t fear might be what we should most fear.

Let’s look at the upcoming eclipses, and I’ll then provide pointers for working with the ideas, ideals, and truth of Courage in your daily life.

Astronomical Energies: Eclipsing through the Eclipses

The word eclipse means to suppress or obscure. Have you ever wondered about all the desires, gifts, and abilities that you have concealed from yourself or others? October is the time to unmask and express your deeper self which, by the way, is a true act of Courage.

Two eclipses grace October’s skies. Eclipses strike in pairs, with a new moon solar eclipse followed by a full moon lunar eclipse. October’s eclipses occur on October 3rd and October 17th.

Eclipses always produce change. Now, change isn’t always easy. In fact, I find that

most people myself included, are more afraid of change than anything else. We get comfortable with what we’re used to, even if what we’re used to is uncomfortable! September welcomed new visions; however, and so now it’s time to act on them.

A solar eclipse happens when the moon situates between the Sun and the Earth. For a short time, you won’t be able to see the light of the Sun. Solar eclipses emphasize beginnings and do-overs. The first chakra, which is located in your hip or genital area, is the body space of new beginnings. Here are the roots of your passions and needs, desires and potential. On and around October 3rd, pay special attention to what your body is telling you. How do you feel around certain people, situations, or places? Do you feel good or bad; healthy or unhealthy; strong or weak? Negative sensations might point to people, ideas, habits, actions, or situations that you need to release in order to allow something better. Positive sensations can indicate the dreams, people, ideas, or behaviors that lead to happiness and success.

October’s solar eclipse occurs in Libra. Libra energy is about balance and partnership. Hence you might be faced with a decision in the area of relationship or partnership. BE COURAGEOUS. Pay attention to the messages in your body. Who or what makes you feel good or bad? What do you need to do to usher in a fresh and more beneficial life, not just remain stuck in the old one?

Lunar eclipses, such as the one on October 17th, often reveal what has been secreted. Now the Earth stands between the Sun and the moon, keeping sunlight from reaching the moon. As is typical, this month’s lunar eclipse falls on a full moon, the traditional time of psychic revelation and emotional honesty. That means that this full moon will be extremely powerful and potentially arousing. In that the moon is in Aries, you can expect moments of inspiration, vision, and insight. Not every spiritual revelation is encouraging of introspection or introversion. Rather, expect that the dreaminess of the lunar eclipse and full moon to summon forth the body-based first chakra energies stimulated during the solar eclipse. Since a goodly part of action involves discerning when to do something versus do nothing, you must remember to remain conscious when faced with difficult decisions. The lunar eclipse invites vulnerability and self-awareness needed to be courageous and spiritually appropriate simultaneously.

Concentrate on activity in your second and seventh chakras before and after the lunar eclipse. Your second chakra, located in the abdomen, is the center of feelings and creativity. Honestly assess yourself for fears that keep you stuck and clear them out! Think of innovative ways to bypass those old, sabotaging ideas so you can grab hold of your Courage and get going with making your dreams come true. What will help? God’s spirit, present in all situations and ways, but sometimes most easily perceived through your seventh chakra,

Your seventh chakra is situated at the top of your head. It manages through your pineal gland, an organ that regulates your “feel good” hormones and sleep, among other things. I sometimes call the pineal the “gland of light,” as it attracts and refracts spiritual energies. This gland connects you directly to God’s spirit and spiritual truths, and can emanate prayers and wishes throughout the universe. Self-defeating or misconstrued spiritual beliefs can block this gland and even the entire seventh chakra, keeping you “in the dark” in regard to your own spiritual powers. Fundamental religiosity or the opposite, lack of spirituality, are often the worst thieves of someone’s spiritual birthright. You deserve to know that you are loved and supported by God.

Ultimately, God desires that we live our spiritual purpose, which relies on being in love with self, other, and life itself. Let this lunar eclipse unearth anything in the way of embracing God’s truths and then invite perceptions and actions that prove them as true. The deeper you go in self-analysis, the more universal support you will receive to change what needs to be changed.

Lassoing These Energies for Your Life

How do you blend the physical forces of the solar eclipse, the inspiration of the lunar eclipse, and the spiritual truth of Courage for your own benefit? Try this strategy:

  • In the beginning of the month, open the gates of your first chakra and pay attention to your body’s messages regarding needs and desires, people and situations. Sort the negative from the positive and reflect upon these differences.
  • Just before and during the lunar eclipse and full moon, be vulnerable to the feelings of your second chakra. Let your feelings show you what beliefs and emotions need healing.
  • During and just after the lunar eclipse and full moon, ask God for insight and inspiration in regard to your spiritual purpose, need for love, and call to action. Pay attention to the revelations of your seventh chakra, often received in nightly dreams, visions, or through sharing and messages from other people or Nature.
  • Pray for the Courage needed to act on the revelation received.

Being courageous is often a result of stepping back from challenging situations, analyzing deeply, and then holding your breath as you step forward into the future that only you can create. When faced with a difficult situation, one that calls for Courage, you can:

  1. Look at the situation from all sides. What is your current viewpoint? If another person is involved, how might he or she be looking at the circumstances? Everyone holds different spiritual ideas and base their positions on these fundamental values. If you can reduce your own (and another’s) thinking down to its core concepts, you can evaluate the correctness of your original perceptions and buy time before taking action.
  2. Decide upon an ideal outcome. If we don’t work toward an ideal, we won’t ever achieve an ideal conclusion. The key to achieving a truly ideal result is to go win-win. What long-term vision helps everyone get what he or she wants? True spiritual ideals work for everyone, not just one person.
  3. Get beyond dualistic thinking. When deciding how to act, remember that spiritual truths often blend two seeming opposites. Don’t be a black and white thinker. A courageous person is willing to be scared, and maybe even follow fear when it’s sensible to do so. An honest person must sometimes swallow the truth for a greater good.

Want an energy tip for being a hero in your own life? Courage can be felt in your heart chakra, an energy center right in the center of your chest. When you are really thinking and acting with Courage, you’ll sense it in your heart, namely in a place within your heart called the High Heart. Imagine that a beautiful and strong gold light dwells in your heart. When you are being Courageous, this gold light shimmers. You and others are able to see the Courage and Truth of your decisions and actions. When you are being cowardly, your spirit will contract, and the gold light won’t shine. Self-honesty is the best way of knowing if you are being Courageous or not.
