Do New Chakras Ever Develop? Try on the Technology Chakra

Feb 17, 2026

We think of chakras as older than time and space, certainly static and defined. The truth is that chakra systems have continually evolved over hundreds to thousands of years and that nearly every culture has put its own spin on the vibratory centers that we now universally call “chakras”.

Even the standard seven-chakra Hindu system isn’t so very standard. In fact, the book that introduced the seven in-body chakras to the West never said there were seven chakras. Sir John Woodroffe, to whom we owe gratitude for his book, Serpent Power, said there were six spinal chakras. In addition, there was an extra one so ethereal that it shouldn’t be considered a chakra. He also pointed out that there were dozens of chakra systems in India alone. The various models suggested from three to dozens of energy bodies.

Although I’m a chakra expert—40 books and counting—I don’t believe for one minute that humanity is finished with its chakra evolution. In an upcoming program I’m going to talk about new and unusual chakras, introducing us to a few centers that can yield powerful results. Here, however, I’m going to briefly discuss what I’ve come to call the Technology Chakra.

I perceive this chakra as able to shift from an iron to a cobalt color. I see it in the brain and in some individuals, threaded into various brain organs. If you activate it—in a controlled manner—it can help you relate to modern technology without experiencing fall-out.

There are few Luddites on this planet right now and soon there will be nearly none. Humans are intertwined with technology. With that we reap the benefits of near-instant communication, data access, and learning tools. Just like that AI can edit our emails and stand in for our therapist. Technology is powering flights into space and keeping dams operational and assuring that our calendar is up to date.

It also presents us with ethical quagmires. Included is the overwhelming energy costs, spam and identity hacks, and other digital dismays.

I believe that the developing technology chakra is not a new subtle organ, but rather a reawakening of a vestigial organ from long ago. Evidence abounds that interstellar travel was a thing. The belief that we came from the stars is a global narrative, anchored in cultures such as the Dogon, Lakota, Māori, Mongolians, and many Australian, Polynesian, Chinese, and additional Native American cultures.

Add to this the description in the Vedic scriptures of flying machines. Consider too that the mention of angels in the Bible could certainly speak to a spiritual phenomenon; then again, these references could also describe otherworldly beings.

The point is that if you have a latent or developing technology chakra, it is on you to decide how to use it and under what guidelines. If in fact it exists in your head, how do you want to relate to technology? What are your principles? How will you use it to help yourself or others? The benefits are tied into how deeply we approach our own ethics and needs.

If you feel called to explore these questions more deeply, I invite you to join me for New and Unusual Chakras, where we’ll work directly with these emerging centers and the spiritual laws that guide their use.
