Shine Your Soul! It Can Defeat Negative Group Mind
Feb 10, 2026
I’m tired of the darkness in the world. I’m sure that you are too. I know that humanity hasn’t ever been a stellar example of goodness and compassion, but there are—and have been—moments and movements of the light.
In the end, those of us dedicated to keep the light rising, and rise with it, are already equipped with the means to do this.
Our soul.
I differentiate between spirit and soul. To me, our spirit is our immortal essence. It is ethereal yet totally tangible. You cannot injure your spirit any more than you might leave a wound in the air when you wave your hand. This is because your spirit is knowingly linked to the Oneness or Source. This is our truest self.
Our soul, on the other hand, might as well be wearing checkerboard squares. It is a slowed down version of our spirit, a tiny smidgen of the parent-spirit. It was formulated to travel across time and space and gain experience. After all, what good is perfection in a manifested reality? By learning and growing, your soul can create. It can solve problems and be of service. Much of its wisdom is gained through mistakes and injuries and the clearing of the same.
I believe that our planet is under siege from the dark, even what could be called “evil.” My favored way of exploring these concepts comes from Madeleine L’Engle’s book, A Wrinkle in Time.
In this young adult novel, which I’ve devoured dozens of times, three youngsters, attended by the strangest flight of angels ever seen. Consider that their names are Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who, and that they wear clothing stolen from a laundry line. At any rate, readers glimpse through their eyes and experiences the battle between light and darkness, and the journey we all make in differentiating the same within ourselves.
In the book, the embodiment of evil exists on Camazotz, a planet the children visit to rescue a prisoner. Evil is depicted as a disembodied brain. It pulses with a rhythm that forces conformity. Any misstep—any insurgence of a person’s natural and distinct personality—is punished with a repatterning. Think the “rehabilitation” camps of the Muslim Uyghurs in China and the anti-establishment individuals in North Korea.
Ultimately, evil occurs when individuality is repressed.
The significant occurrence of darkness on our planet is undisputable, partially because the Internet activates awareness. In 2025 alone, we’ve seen the rise of fascism, lying, name-calling, and violence by the administration in America. We’ve seen the deliberately whitewashing of records about current and former slavery, racism, sexism, and genocide. America is simply a mirror of many other parts of the world, where witnessed daily is genocide, hate language, and the repression of free speech and will.
What can we do about it? I too often feel overwhelmed.
Individually, we might feel called to aid a particular type of person or group, or rally against a defined sort of darkness. Always, however, we can shine our soul, as this is the essence of our individuality—as damaged, wondrous, challenged, empowered, and wounded it might be.
It might seem counterintuitive to think of our soul rather than our spirit as the solution to transforming dark to light. Think about it, though. Our soul, which has traveled through indefinite numbers of incarnations and experiences, is a master of dark and light.
I’ve no shame in admitting that during one lifetime I was an incredibly successful Chinese warlord. I loved doing wrong. I adored building my abodes and boundaries with the bones of my victims. There was something satisfying about crunching on the destruction of the less powerful. Yet, upon leaving that life, what did I take with me but—nothing? What did I feel but empty? I had created no love, been unloved, and not given love.
Our spirit is already beyond the need to select good over bad, or not-so-bad compared to even-worse. It is our soul that can read the nuances and make the easy and hard choices.
Ultimately, darkness and evil can successfully infect, infest, and invade because the perpetrators are well organized. The souls and forces committed to evil, or scared, tricked, and blackmailed into becoming agents of the same, are linked in a Group Mind. (Think the Borg in Star Trek.) This collective state prevents self-identification. If a soul is unable to embrace and express from its individuality, it lacks the ability for critical thinking, the basis of free will.
The truth is that every time our soul has historically struggled to choose between good and bad, or versions of the same, it has learned how to avoid or escape Group Mind. And Group Mind is defeated, at least in part, when one singular soul exercises its right to say “no” to its gravitational impact and “yes” to its own conscience and consciousness.
We don’t have to do anything special. We can just be—be ourselves.
It is your soul that is your power on this planet.
