Do Your Marketing Like a Hippie Might

Aug 18, 2026

I was young when the term “hippie” was in. I wanted to grow up and be one. They had long hair, no matter their gender. My mom kept mine short. They wore flowered pattern clothes. The only blossoms in my life were in the garden, which I had to weed every day in the summer. It didn’t seem they had to go to school either. I did.

My assistant and webmaster Gina Nicole and I have reframed the term “hippie” to describe a wild sort of marketing that is so much more fun than, well, regular marketing. (Though she’s too young to have ever seen a living hippie.) Most spirit-based people detest marketing, and whether you own your own business, you probably must do some anyway.

If you're self-employed, you have to let people know you exist. The definite list includes a website (after all, you want to get paid), maybe email campaigns, and most likely social media. If you’re simply a person you probably still wonder about your presence on social media and other outlets. It seems we can’t go very far without marking a presence in the world.

The term “marketing” is typically defined as the business process of figuring out customers’ needs and creating communications to satisfy those related to your products. These days, the idea also includes “branding” or presenting a unified and identifiable image of yourself.

One of the reasons so many of us dislike marketing, especially on social media, is that we don’t like to present a fake image. Neither do most of us have access to easy air-brushing and customization tools, so we can feel inept, not only resistance. Enter Bohemian marketing.

Bohemian marketing—like hippie’ism—involves taking a personalized and authentic approach to marketing. It is soul-based, not personality driven. It is creative and non-traditional, not boring and tedious. I only Bohemian market, and recently, have driven up my Instagram by 10,000 new followers. Plus I’m having fun. It’s because I’m using Gina Nicole’s energetic system.

Gina uses an involved energetic process to figure out your spiritual frequencies. Based on the outcome, she arrives at the best-case way for you to show up in your life, the world, and at the forefront of your own marketing efforts, in a genuine way. She has reduced my self-understanding to a simple statement, and I create classes and marketing functions based only on that.

Basically, I love offering new materials and being a geek, so that’s what I do. I also enjoy a splash of humor, so that fits in.

What surprised me most is how much lighter marketing has become. Instead of wondering what I should post or how I should sound, I simply ask whether what I'm sharing is true to who I am. When the answer is yes, the words come more easily. The right people seem to find me, and the work feels joyful again.

That's the heart of Bohemian Marketing.

It isn't about learning another formula or following someone else's blueprint. It's about discovering the natural way you are designed to communicate, create, and contribute. From there, marketing becomes less about convincing people and more about inviting them into something genuine.

Whether you're building a business, growing a practice, writing a book, or simply trying to share your gifts with the world, I think that's a far more sustainable path.

I hope you'll this six-week led adventure led by Gina. You might just discover that marketing can become one of the most authentic, and surprisingly enjoyable parts of your work.

An Energy Tip for the Creatives

Before you write your next email, post, or website page, place one hand over your heart and one over your solar plexus. Close your eyes and take three slow breaths. Then ask yourself, "If no one were judging me, what would I most want to say?"

Don't edit the answer. Don't improve it. Don't make it sound more professional. Simply write it down.

We spend so much time trying to become memorable that we forget something important. People are drawn to authenticity long before they're drawn to perfection.

Happy creating!
