Energetically Recovering from Sexual and Other Major Physical Abuse

Sep 15, 2026

Depending on the source statistics show that between 44 and 80 percent of adult American women have suffered unwanted sexual trauma. The same has occurred for 25 percent of American men (CDC, Rainne). We don’t know global rates, because sexual assault is so seldom reported in most countries.

I’m not a therapist. I’m an energy worker. My intention isn’t to tell you what to do therapeutically for yourself or another to recover from sexual abuse, or traumatizing physical hardships, but I can recommend energetic approaches.

First off, as an energy healer, I must confront an inaccurate message often bandied about in certain spiritual and Christian religious communities. Sexual abuse is never okay. If you, a loved one, or a client has been sexually or physically violated, it cannot be written off as karma, or payback from a past life. It’s not a soul agreement. Sexual abuse isn’t about provocative dress or being unchurched or not praying enough or lacking the umbrella of God or Jesus or whomever. The abuse was wrong and should not have happened.

Secondarily, I also want to caution you against some of my own teachings. When someone is sexually or physical violated, I often state that most of the damage lies in the first chakra. This is the energy center in the hip area. Typically seen as red, it holds physically traumatizing energies, and if abuse occurred rectally, anally, vaginally, or through touch anywhere on the body, the imprint lands in the first chakra.

Sexual or traumatizing physical abuse does cause catastrophic first chakra hardships, but the long-term impact impacts the entirety of the chakra and physical system, not only the first chakra. Because of this, it’s important to address at least the following factors to aid in energetic repair.

  • Entry and exit wounds and the pathway of the abusive force. Whenever we are violated physically, even if someone swipes at us with a leering look and doesn’t touch the skin, the result is a force that penetrates the system. The entry wound is the where/s of the violation. The exit wound is the place the force comes out. But sometimes, the actual force, which is invisible, never leaves the body and gets stuck. That physical and subtle area holding this force becomes congested and will most likely develop problems. In fact, years later, we might wonder why any of these spaces have anything but rashes to growths to autoimmune challenges.
  • Deposited subtle energies. An abuser is projecting. If they were sexually and/or physically violated, their abuser deposited negative subtle energies in them. In turn, the future-perpetrator has their own reactions, like beliefs and feelings. If they don’t deal with them, they in turn deposit the stored subtle energies in their victim. These deposited subtle energies make recovery extremely difficult because no one can process energies that are not your own. It can be terribly challenging to separate one’s own feelings from those left in the system; to figure out what patterns of physical inflammation started in the self versus the abuser, or their abuser.
  • The nature of sexual versus other types of physical violence. Ultimately, the end feeling is of stolen innocence. Innocence cannot be stolen, but we can lose sight of it.

When I’m working with someone who has been horribly violated, I make sure I do this:

  • Examine for the force/s that were projected by the abuser. I ask guidance to clear fill in the wound points and pathways.
  • Clear the deposited subtle energies. Again, I request that guidance accomplish this.
  • Find and free what I call the “shock bubble self.” This is the abused self who has become trapped in the trauma. Until they are discovered and allowed to feel and express, their personal world is of constant abuse.
  • Reactivate the innocence. Sometimes I use the phrase “divine child” when I’m encourage a survivor to uncover or find the innocent self. There is great relief at discovering that innocence was never lost and cannot ever be.
  • Work through every chakra and body part, not only the first chakra, because the trauma and resulting inflammation is often widespread.

I know that there are many other steps to take for true transformation, and that this article is simply an initial statement of recovery. I cover all the steps energetically necessary and completely explain the connection between the physical and subtle bodies, in my bestselling book, Energy Healing for Trauma, Stress & Chronic Illness.

May you give yourself the space of becoming well, and open to that for others.

Blessings, Cyndi
