Trouble Sleeping? There Are Two Chakras That Might Fix That

Jun 30, 2026

Neither of my sons slept a full night until they were three years of age. That meant that I was constantly exhausted and simultaneously wired. (Six years, guys? Really!) Once my second son started clocking an eight-hour night, I still couldn’t sleep. It was as if my body had forgotten how.

One-third of all adults are sleep-deprived. I think that number is low. Then again, up to two-thirds of adults occasionally struggle with insomnia.

You’ve been there. Maybe you are there. There are lots of causes of poor sleep, but I can teach you an energetic trick that might help. Let’s get you snoozing with the sheep as soon as possible.

First off, it’s hard to address sleep issues with concrete remedies because there are so many causes. These include current and past traumas, poor sleeping conditions, a snoring partner (okay, that one is easy—get them their own room), depression or anxiety, things that go “bump” in the middle of the night, and hormone problems. Women especially struggle with the latter, as we enter pre-menopause at like 30 years-of-age these days and it goes on for decades. No matter your age or gender, though, there are dozens of hormones in the body. If these aren’t coordinated, good-bye slumber time.

There are two main hormone glands that you can work on energetically, however, to encourage sleep. These are your adrenals and your pineal gland. (First, though, check your thyroid for hyperactivity, because when that is awry, your sleep dial will be stuck on “off”.)

Your pineal gland is all important for sleep. It makes the hormones necessary to get tired and stay asleep. This gland is compromised for most of us. For example, it is negatively impacted by lack of sunlight, stress, trauma patterns, screen time, age, and yes, I did slip this in, negative entities and forces. I’ll explain the latter.

Energetically, your pineal gland is governed by your seventh chakra. This is a white energy body on the top of your head, and it manages your spiritual connectivity. Former and current trauma, for instance, often costs us our link to whatever you call the Divine. So does what I call “interference,” or entities that might seek to prey on you. Bottom line, if you’re not sleeping, something now or earlier in your life cut off your direct link to whatever you call your Higher Power. This must be restored before more normal treatments might work.

The caveat, however, is that you must have enough life energy flowing into the seventh chakra for the pineal gland to wave good night. What do I mean by this?

At the other end of your spine lies your first chakra. It is red and found in the coccyx area. This security-based energy body runs your adrenals and your lower body’s neurological system. It’s also responsible for sending electrical energy up your spine. This electrical energy is necessary to nourish all your endocrine glands. It also produces an electromagnetic field that is protective in nature. If your adrenals/first chakra are low in this vital life force, there is no way that your pineal gland will be on the receiving end of enough electrical power to get it to work or rejected intrusive thoughts, memories, stresses, or interference. And if you don’t have enough electrical power, you won’t have good boundaries. Then, the creepie-crawlies from other people and the invisible world can get in.

Picture a thermometer. Your life force is the mercury. Unless it runs all the way to the top—your seventh chakra—the pineal gland won’t be fueled. And if your first chakra and adrenals are depleted, which occurs when life is (or has been) extraordinarily stressful, the oomph required to rest never gets where it needs to go. You’ll lay abed exhausted without a lamb in sight.

There are a lot of reasons that your first chakra might be dysfunctional, such as trauma, stress, hardships, money issues, busy children, a hectic job. But you can still activate your life force with enough power to can sleep at night. The key is to feed the first chakra, send the electrical power up your spine, and then assure that the pineal gland is energized enough to function.

I’m going to give you an exercise to help you do this.

A caveat. You might need to do this practice repeatedly until it becomes automatic. That’s okay. It might also begin to reveal the core issues underneath your sleeplessness, and that is good to. Then you can work on them and clear whatever lies in-between you and a well-rested body. In fact, I’d run through this protocol in the morning, somewhere around noon, and then an hour or so before bedtime. If you wake up in the middle of the night, do it again.

  • Settle into a comfortable position and breathe deeply. Save at night, sit up with your feet on the ground. Hold your hands loosely open and straighten out your shoulders and spine. If it’s night, request that a spiritual guide, your Higher Power, or your own spiritual essence lovingly stroke your feet. That’s right. You get a massage out of this exercise too.
  • Now request that guidance bring upward from the earth into your feet all the elements you need to nourish your first chakra. This upward fuel-line is managed by a chakra under the ground called the tenth chakra. One of its jobs is to send elements like air, fire, wood, metal, stone, water, and more upward and into the body. Trust that guidance is delivering the ones that you need right into the cauldron of your first chakra.
  • As your first chakra starts to fill in, something wonderful happens. All those elements are converted into life force, or electricity. This vital energy rises upward through your spine to power all your endocrine glands. Now they can each manufacture their specialty hormones, such as those needed for peace, calm, excitement joy, achievement, and more. Eventually, this fluid light streams into the very top of your head and your pineal gland.
  • Allow your seventh chakra, the home of your pineal gland, to evaluate and take in whichever elements it needs. The vital electricity assures that the pineal gland will keep you awake during the day and help you sleep at night. Let your pineal gland bathe in this nutritional soup, until your body begins to calm.
  • When you’re undergoing this exercise during the day, wait until you feel renewed and return to the world with ease. When you’re using this exercise at night, ask guidance to keep filling your pineal gland with the elements needed to deeply relax and finally sleep well.
  • Eventually, you’ll want to keep this connection between your tenth, earthly based chakra and the first open all the time. Health is contingent on a continual flow of elements moving upward and into—and even beyond—your seventh chakra. Trust that the elements will combine for your exact needs, moment to moment, and hour by hour.
