Using a Pendulum
Sep 29, 2026
A pendulum is a weight suspended from a string or chain. A necklace will work if it has a large enough pendant, as the weight needs to be heavy enough to have obvious swing.
For millennium, people have used pendulums as a form of divination. They can be used to help you heal, conduct energetic assessments, make decisions, and even connect with guides. Plus, it’s a fun way to interact with your own or another person’s energetics.
If held over a part of the body a pendulum can detect what’s occurring in that body part. If held over the area of a chakra, it will reveal if the chakra is releasing or taking in energy. Basically, it flows with the electromagnetic field that emanates from all cells, organs, and chakras.
The EMF given off by a bodily area can indicate yes, no, and maybe responses to questions. It can also show positive (good for you), negative (bad for you), and neutral responses.
How can you use one? First, figure out the nature of the question or concern. If you want information for a decision of any sort—like, ‘What food would be healthy to eat right now?’, ‘Is this a good job to take or not?’, or ’Is this plan right for me?’, hold the pendulum over the heart area. That is where the heart chakra resides, and it is related to the largest EMF field given off by any organ (the heart) or in-body chakra.
If you’re working on yourself, you can test on one of your palms.
Now dangle the pendulum about two to six inches over the probable location of the chakra and then ask a question. Keep the question positive, such as, ‘Would it be a good idea to change jobs this year?’ Let the pendulum keep still until it moves of its own accord and you can interpret.
In general, a “yes” is clockwise or moves to the right for most people (as you are viewing the pendulum). A “no” moves counterclockwise. A “maybe” or ask a better question remains at a standstill.
If the answers are mixed, try a different question, or put away the pendulum and get clear. That might not be the way to gain insights about a particular issue. But try a number of issues, like…
What food protocol or program suites me the best?
What exercises?
Should I change jobs or stay?
What are the best ways to self-care?
Then make up a few questions of your own.
A pendulum is a wonderful tool, but the ultimate goal isn't to rely on one forever. It's to become your own pendulum, to trust what you're sensing, strengthen your intuition, and learn to read energy with confidence. That's exactly what we're exploring inside Cyndi Dale's Energy Healing Academy, and we'd love to have you join us.
