What Are The Basic Psychic Abilities?

Mar 31, 2026

We’re all psychic. Some of the types of psychic aptitudes might take you by surprise, though, which is why I want to outline them in my newsletter.

Consider that you can smell a psychic message. Quite often when I’m working with clients I detect aromas. The most common one is that of smoke. As soon as I smell cigar or cigarette smoke, I ask my client, “Who used to—or does—smoke?” There is always a meaning.

One time my client admitted to being a secret smoker. “I sneak out at night and have a cigarette every time my partner is mad at me,” they admitted. I pointed out that the partner had probably figured out this nasty habit, and they’d then crawl into bed smelling like an ash tray.

Yet another time, I detected a strong scent of pipe. I began to choke on the stench. I also intuitively saw the presence of a large man with a wide stomach and scraggly beard. My client began to cry. “That is my dad,” she sobbed. “He just died.”

The visitor continued to type a message on my mind screen as if using an old-fashioned stand-up typewriter. It was full of birthday emojis (somehow, don’t ask me how high-tech invaded spirit-low-tech). Turns out that it was my client’s birthday.

Yet another time I was simply hanging out with a man I had just started to date when I was overwhelmed with the beautiful scent of roses. I mentioned this and he clapped his hands. “That’s my sister, Megan!” He cried. “She died a few years ago and always wore rose water perfume.”

There are so many types of psychic attributes that it would be hard to list them. Nevertheless, here is a short outline. I recommend that you read them over and then when seeking guidance, ask that any of these forms of higher intelligences be open to response, if you’re comfortable with the psychic form.

  • Physical empathy (sensing others’ bodily sensations or physical needs)
  • Psychometry (knowledge through touch)
  • Telekinesis (moving objects with the mind)
  • Levitation (floating objects in the air)
  • Pyrokinesis (setting fires with the mind)
  • Dowsing (finding objects or water in the ground)
  • Clairtangency (touching what isn’t present)
  • Clairgustance (tasting what isn’t present)
  • Clairsalience/clairolfaction (smelling what isn’t present)
  • Clairsentience (sensing/feeling through the body)
  • Feeling empathy (picking up on another’s feelings)
  • Claircognition (knowing what someone else knows)
  • Relational empathy (sensing what someone needs to feel loved)
  • Healing (being aware of the type of healing someone requires)
  • Clairaudience (receiving verbal guidance)
  • Clairvoyance (receiving messages that are visual in nature)
  • Spiritual empathy (being aware of good, bad, and destiny)
  • Prophecy (sensing what the Divine wants to happen or not)
  • Shamanism (being mystically attuned to earthly and other realms and spirits)
  • Natural empathy (tuning into the environment)
  • Force empathy (being able to command natural and supernatural forces)

You might not want to perform pyrokinesis without training—it could be devastating to catch your home on fire—but you might be surprised at the various powers that are available to you!

I’ll be teaching a seven-part class on this topic through the Shift Network soon. In it, I’ll be helping individuals transfer in quantum blueprint to first activate their psychic powers and to then turn around and transform major traumatic issues. Whether or not you take the class, embrace the thought that you are interdimensional and that whatever you call your Higher Power can use that fact to assist.
