Why the Silver Cord?

Those of us in the consciousness community would never guess that one of the sources of knowledge about the silver cord is the Bible. Nor do you probably know interactions through this cord delivers powerful healing.

The "silver cord of life" is a metaphysical and poetic concept referring to the unseen, energetic tether that connects the physical body to the spiritual soul, maintaining life and consciousness.

We get the name from the Bible. Ecclesiastes 12:6 describes the fragility of life and death itself. The text warns readers to remember their Creator "...or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern."

Therefore, we know the silver cord as a link between the Creator and one’s soul.

Esoteric teachings, especially Theosophy, calls this cord the sutratma or life thread that is an energetic pipeline between the higher self and physical body. It is a spiritual umbilical cord transferring prana down. Sometimes seen as linking the physical to etheric to astral to mental body. It is considered silver to the represent higher dimensions.

People who under Near Death Experiences often perceive it as a luminous, elastic, silver-colored thread that anchors your soul in the body while you explore other dimensions, such as when you are sleeping. It is thought that if this cord is cut while you’re exploring, the soul can’t return.

Yet other consciousness explorers explain the silver cord as a collection of subtle matter, each type related to different dimensions or planes of existence. I believe the same.

This is a nutshell definition of the silver cord from another perspective.

In Vedic philosophy, sutratma means "the thread-soul", the metaphysical reality that a single, continuous thread of pure consciousness and life-force permeates all of existence. This thread connects everything and everyone across all dimensions, times and spaces.

Because the silver cord can connect you to anywhere or any-when, and you don’t need to be dead, you can draw healing energies in through straight into the body. Try this to explore this application.

Take a few deep breaths and center in your heart chakra. Focus on a need. Then link with a spiritual guide, your own spirit, or the Creator to connect to your own silver cord. Pay attention to where you believe it anchors in your body. Some people find that it is anchored in the heart, others in the shoulder blades or clavicles, still others near the neck. Simply request that whatever beautiful healing dust or sparks you need to improve matters in relationship with your focus be transferred into the body through your silver cord. It doesn’t matter the dimension, though you might get a sense of it. Simply accept the love. Return to your everyday life when you’re ready.
